Barbara Gist Language: English Report abuse

This all took place in Camden, New Jersey. She loved to eat at Horn and Hardart...Always had hard candy in her purse for herself and any child she would meet... Bessie was about 5ft short lady... African American...light skinned with soft wavy hair.

Not sure where she is buried. I know that some SDA Church members named Brother and Sister Jenkins cared for her but they were both elderly also so my mother Eileen Gist took Bessie in for years she was the grandmother we needed when our own passed away... then she became ill and the Jenkins decided it was best if she went into a Nursing Home... she was such a warm independent person when she lost the ability to walk we knew she would not last long... This Bessie that I knew was from Raleigh, North Carolina... widowed... said she never had any children so she loved every child as if they we her own... My name is Barbara Gist and I am on Facebook.
